A timeless classic from Fritz Lang, this German movie named M made in 1931 is probably the first ever serial murder film since the beginning of movies. It definitely is a psycho thriller. A serial murder is on the loose in Germany and this guy abducts children and kills them. The city is in siege, parents are anxious and fearing, while Hans Beckert (Peter Lorre) strikes again abducting little Elsie Beckmann and killing her. Police is clueless while the underworld is upset that too much of police on the streets is killing their business too. They organise a manhunt for the serial child killer using the services of beggars of the town. Its a nice cat and mouse game between the police on one hand, criminals on the other and the serial killer at large. Peter Lorre as the serial killer has acted his part quite well. It was Fritz Lang’s first ever sound film. Production values are not bad for a movie in that era.
