Thrilling and absorbing BBC documentary on the race to the Everest, the teams that tried it before 1953, the Swiss team and then the British team led by John Hunt, which had made the most meticulous preparation ever. Fascinating account of what happened at each step as the due of Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norkay made it to the top. There was a passing mention of George Mallory who apparently climbed the Everest way back in 1925 but did not return. That account is brilliantly captured by Jeffrey Archer in his superb book “Paths of Glory”. This is a good documentary, it gave you goosebumps as they neared the top.
