Rabindranath Tagore

Documentary on India’s greatest writer and poet by India’s greatest film maker Satyajit Ray – this is absolutely rare gem. Its a Films Division production of 1961 and Satyajit has narrated his family lineage and story of Rabindranath right from his childhood. He has used some actual footage including a rare close up footage of Rabindranath – one footage of Rabindranath with Mahatma Gandhi – both did not see eye to eye on many things, yet the respect between the two was immense when in the footage it was Mahatma Gandhi who was falling at the feet of Tagore. This is a real gem of a documentary, quite brilliantly done by the master.
