Ring of Bright Water

Ring of Bright Water by Gavin Maxwell is a story of an otter he picked up in Iraq during his visit there with a friend. The otter Mijbil was transported from Iraq into London through two or three flights with several humorous experiences and then from there taken to his Scottish home called Camusfearna. The whole story is about his experiences with the otter all the while until the otter’s death which left him quite anguished. He was later able to get another otter to keep from an unlikely source. Otters are apparently quite intelligent sea animals and it was quite an eye opener to read about them. Goodreads 3/5
