The Various Flavours of Coffee

Interesting part historical fiction, part adventure, story of Robert Wallis who quite accidentally gets a job of writing about coffee flavours with the daughter of his employer. They have quite a thing going along, when his employer decides to send him to Africa on an adventure. Meanwhile the daughter Emily is a suffragetist as the story takes place around the end of the 19th century, when women had not yet got the right to vote, women in England i.e. In the meanwhile the hero has quite an adventure in Ethiopia with an African slave whom he falls for, and then battered and bruised and having lost everything returns to England to again work for his employer. Meanwhile the suffragate movement is picking up steam. Coffee is the central theme of this novel, with the suffragete and the love story being linked to it. Goodreads 5/5
